Where Garbage Pail Kids Come From?
Ew gross! Everyone has been hearing urban legends about this “plastic beach” (beaches in the path of ocean currents that accumulate the world’s plastic waste) and cyber dumps in China (whole towns created around the dumping sites of thousands of passe computers) but now there’s some solid evidence of this real place scientists are calling “The Great Pacific Garbage Patch”. A patch of ocean where the Pacific swirls around a dead zone miles wide (twice the size of Texas!) of plastic! The saddest part is, i searched the internet and could only find one small picture of the phenomena. I wonder when American media will catch up with this story… ahem Anderson. Most personal accounts of the patch are described as the most disheartening, sickeningly depressing sight. Read this man’s account of sailing through the patch for two weeks!
