Yes, Machu Picchu, is actually on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley within the Andes mountain range in Peru.  It is ~50 miles northwest of Cuzco, Peru.  Urubamba Valley is also called the Sacred Valley of the Incas and is below the sacred city of Machu Picchu.
