Who is fido?
Fido is the living embodiment of a philosophy believed but not necessarily exemplified by his vaguely neurotic creators, Joanna Ferrone and Sue Rose. Everyone seems to think that he was born when he was doodled on a cocktail napkin. But the truth is Fido existed before he was drawn. He just needed somebody to put pen to paper and get him going. Once that happened (big deal right?) the creators ceased to have any control over his actions. Let’s face it Joanna’s dogs won’t even do what she says, much less Fido. So even though she’s bigger than him and a bit less black and white, she doesn’t really have a say in what he says or does. In a recent telephone interview Fido said, “I mean, I appreciate everything they’ve done for me but I’ve just gotta live my own life.” Joanna and Sue don’t really mind this lack of control because they know no person, living or drawn, should be controlled.
