What are the rules of the cha cha?
There are a lot. Your best bet is to find a college ballroom dance club or a local dance studio and enroll in Latin lessons. Cha-cha is a basic Latin dance, so it should be taught at one of the first lessons. Some important rules of cha-cha include partner contact, positioning of hands/bodies, where the follow’s eyes are while turning, the timing of certain moves, Cuban motion (your hips moving), staying on beat, having a sexier feel (rather than “I’m a princess” in waltz), and the ability of the lead and follow to know what each other is doing (the follow doing all the moves the lead initates). Once you take a few lessons, these will become second nature, don’t worry!
