How often does BV recur?
Approximately 30% of women who initially improve have a recurrence of symptoms within 3 months. And, 70% will have a recurrence of symptoms within 9 months! Although the reason(s) for these high recurrence rates is(are) not known for certain, it is speculated that failure to restore balanced bacterial flora and/or persistence in the vagina of BV causing microorganisms are at fault.
