Whats a path or pathname?
A. Here is one explanation of pathname (or path). A relative pathname is defined in relation to the current working directory. An absolute pathname is a pathname relative to the root directory. You can look it up in the Webopedia by typing in a search keyword. I have a link to this excellent site on my Web Resources page under IT Terms & References). Also, if you are installing the J2SDK on your home computer, the Deitel text has information about changing the PATH setting on your system ( see p. xxxiii Before You Begin). Make sure that you have read my section 1.1 Class Notes before you do that.
