WHY NOT ANNO DOMINI?

0

The phrase anno domini (abbreviated AD) is Latin for “In the year of Our Lord” and is widely used in dates. It has the unfortunate characteristic of being a religious phrase used by the various franchises of Christianity. I’m not religious, and I’m most definitely not a Christian. Using “AD” to me is about as salutary as dating from the opening of Auschwitz would be to those of Jewish ancestry. So I use “CE” instead, the secular phrase “[in the] Current Era”.
