How fast do the kilobits per second mean?
Mistakenly mixing up the bits and the bytes is one reason why some people think their broadband connection is slow. A broadband service, such as MaxOnline offers download speeds of up to 100,000Kbps+, 12,000Kbps or 8,000Kbps. When you play back a song or video clip that is streamed live over the Internet, the software player usually reports the data rate in terms of kilobits per second (Kbps). But Internet browsers and other file transfer software (see diagram below) often show speed in terms of kilobytes per second (KB/Sec or KBps), which is different from kilobits per second (Kbps).
