What is the ideal age for orthodontics?
There is no one answer to this question because each orthodontic problem determines its own best starting time. For this reason the American Association of Orthodontists recommends at every child first visit an orthodontist by age 7 – or earlier if an orthodontic problem is detected by parents, the family dentist or the child’s physician. Our preference is to examine patients around the age of 7, when the upper front teeth have erupted. However, with special circumstances, we may initiate treatment earlier.
