Are lysosomes formed by golgi bodies?
This is a very interesting question. The Golgi apparatus is responsible for vesicle trafficking inside a cell, and amongst these vesicles there is a type called early endosomes, to which all phagocytosed or pinocytosed vesicles fuse. It is postulated that these early endosomes mature to lysosomes when lysosomal enzymes (hydrolyzing enzymes and proton pumps to create an acidic environment) synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum are delivered to them.
