Do certain types of shoes cause corns?
Any shoe that doesn’t fit properly can potentially lead to a corn. Shoes that are too tight or too narrow are likely to cause corns. High-heeled shoes are also more likely to lead to them. If the upper portion of the shoe is hard it can press onto your foot, thus making a corn more likely. If you have a corn, your GP, chiropodist or podiatrist will be able to advise you on new shoes that don’t cause corns. Shoes with a lot of room at the toe cap, with a soft upper half and with low heels are usually recommended.
