What is the IMC?
IMC Locally: The San Diego Independent Media Center began in April 2001. The IMC formed to cover the cross-border protest of the Free Trade Area of the Americas. In the summer we provided a space for several journalists covering the BioJustice 2001 protests. The San Diego IMC now hopes to outreach to local activists and community organizations. Our mission is to provide an outlet for coverage of citizen involvement with social, political and environmental activities. Our open publishing policy allows anyone to be a journalist and breaks down the barrier created by the corporate media.IMC Globally: The Independent Media Centers form a worldwide network of IMCs. There are currently over sixty IMCs around the world. The list of sites can be seen on the left hand column of any IMC website. Each of these websites represents a place that hundreds of journalist and activists can post articles, pictures, and video.
