What is the best way to meditate?
Here’s a simple way that I enjoy… It’s important to sit erect whether it be on the edge of a chair or on a cushion. You don’t have to think of anything, really, your mind will be thinking anyway. The important thing to do is witness our thoughts without judging them. Simply watch them float by like clouds in the sky, without attaching to them in negative or positive ways. Be neutral with them. Also, a good habit while you’re doing this is to follow your breath. Breathe naturally, and follow the inhalation and exhalation as your abdomen fills and empties of air. It takes time to do both of these examples together at the same time… so maybe just start by closing your eyes, sitting erect and following your breath. Start slow, like 5 minutes a day, and increase the time gradually. It’s all about being with yourself, silently, and not passing judgement on the contents of your mind. I hope this helps you.
