What happened in Antigone?
RIght I absolutely love this play although it is extremely weird and confusing. RIght main characters Antigone- Oedipus’s daughter/sister ( Oedipus married his mother) Creon- Antigones uncle and ruler of the kingdom basic plot is that Antigones brothers Polynices, Eteocles and Creon want to control Thebes (where the play is set) so they take turns each ruling for a year when Polynices turn is up he doesn’t want to let Eteocles have the thrown so they go to war and they both die. So Eteocles gets a royal burial but Polynices doesn’t which is why Antigone is upset in the first place. So she buries Polynices even though Creon has forbidden it. She gets in trouble and brought before Creon and is taken to a cave. RIght after this Creon sees sense because the blind prophet tells him that two people in his family will die. So he goes to save Antigone but she has already killed herself by hanging herself on her robe and his son Haemon kills himself with his sword and his wife kills herself wit
