How do I uninstall Winamp?
Confirm that you have uninstalled Winamp by going to Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs and search the list for it. If Winamp is in that list, it hasn’t been removed. Winamp uses an additional program called Winamp agent to ensure that file extensions such as *.mp3 remain tied into winamp even when another program like Media Player takes control of them. To assosiate those files with Media Player again, you can goto My Computer and up the top menu click Tools -> Folder Options. Click the File Types tab and scroll through the list to find the extension for the media you are trying to play (*.mp3, *.ogg etc) and change the default program to manage that extension to WMP. It sounds like you haven’t uninstalled winamp properly though, so if you followed the steps in the first paragraph to remove it, you should now just have to right click on a file and Open With -> Windows Media Player.
