How to attract dark (evil) fairies?
Most of the fairy lore in folklore involves ways of avoiding dark fairies, like hanging iron (or scissors) over your door, hanging bells around the necks of farm animals, and turning your clothes inside out. For fairy mounds, NEVER eat any food offered, and try to have a friend nearby outside the circle to yank you out when you dance for a year (but it seems like a day.) The bit about leaving out clothes to release a fairy from service (like Dobby in Harry Potter) is an old bit of fairy lore. You can sometimes get rid of good fairies by withholding their traditional meal left out (usually butter, cream, or cake) overnight.
