How fast do roller coasters go?
At this second, the speed varies from 0-128 mph, depending on the coaster (each have a basic estimate). The fastest coaster right now goes 128mph, that coaster is “Kingda Ka” at Six Flags Great Adventure. A new coaster in Germany (“Ring Racer”) was supposed to open this year and go nearly 135 mph, but they had major issues with this coaster, so it had never reached it’s full speed and they are still working on it (it’s not open to the public). Ferrari World, a new indoor theme park that is to open in 2010 is building a coaster (currently called “F1 Coaster”) that is supposed to be able to reach speeds of 150mph (although I heard that it will not run that fast when opened to the public), claiming the title of fastest coaster…who knows if that one will open before Ring Racer in Germany.
