WHY HORROR MOVIES?
Wilbanks, an admirer of the Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead and Peter Jackson’s early horror movies, has decided to work in the horror genre not only because he enjoys horror movies, but from a business prospective he sees it as the smartest choice. “When you’re shooting on a low budget, you kinda have to come to a concession between what you really want and what you can do,” Wilbanks explains. “Obviously we’re not going to be able to produce Star Wars or Gladiator. So you have to go, what can I make that’s going to get out there and more importantly, what is something that will be appealing to people? “So you look around and most of the products out there are horror movies. There’s a huge market. That’s why I developed Motor Home Massacre. And once I started writing it I found this very wide latitude, there are a whole bunch of cool things you can put into a horror movie that you can’t put into a comedy or an action adventure or a drama.
