After losing the election in 1960 to JFK, Richard Nixon was elected President in 1968. His campaign in the election was against Democrat, Hubert Humphrey and George Wallace an Independent. He won with a total of 301 electoral votes, beating Humphrey’s 191 votes and Wallace’s 46 votes.
