What do I need to use the online features in the Year 2001 Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia Deluxe version?
You must have a modem and access to the Internet through an Internet Service Provider (ISP), such as AT&T WorldNet, AOL (trial offer provided with the GME). You must also be using a standalone Web browser like Netscape Navigator or Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Some ISPs (AOL, CompuServe, and others) use built-in Web browsers which may not be compatible with GME2001’s online features. However, you can configure AOL and CompuServe to work if you have a standalone Web browser. To obtain information about configuring AOL to work with a standalone browser, logon to AOL and go to keyword: WINSOCK. For assistance with CompuServe, choose GO:Internet. NOTE: AOL software is included on the Year 2001 Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia Deluxe (two-CD) version for your convenience. You are not required to install and use this software, but you must have Internet access to use the online features.
