How to work out Simultaneous Equations.?
There are 3 ways to solve this system: graphing, substitution, and elimination. Graphing is probably the preferred method here, but you can use substitution here too. The reason why I say graphing is easier is because the equations are already in slope-intercept form, so they are easier to graph. Once you graph them, find the point where they intersect, if at all. If they intersect, there’s your solution. If they are the same line, then they have infinitely many solutions. if they are parallel, then they have no solution. You can verify this by using substitution: Since y is already by itself in both equations, substitute y in the first equation with the second equation, like so: -x+13=6x+2 Now solve for x: 13=5x+2 11=5x x=11/5 Substitute that x into the first equation and solve for y: y=6x+2 y=6(11/5)+2 y=66/5+10/5 y=76/5 So the solution is (11/5,76/5). Verify this by graphing both equations into your graphing calculator.
