What is training like at the OTC?
Well it depends on what time of the year it is. We train on cycles. We have macrocycles, mesocycles, and microcycles. If a tournament is 12 weeks out or more, then we usually train 2 to 3 times a day. We run in the morning, follow the run with a technical session and then we practice in the evening. Sprinkled in the week are usually one or two deep tissue massages and some cold whirlpool action just to keep the legs fresh. The volume of training here is very intense. When I first moved here in 1999 I was in the training room every day – my body was not used to the banging day in and day out.
