Is Bushnell .22 scope OK for .17 HMR rifle?
If it was made specifically for .22, it means that it probably has hash marks down the bottom half of the scope to indicate distances and drop for .22 bullets (the first mark down from the dead center may be 50 yards or 75 yards or etc.) You can still target the rifle in on the crosshairs, but all the little hash marks under the dead center won’t be true for the .17HMR the way they would be for a .22LR . (The .17 shoots much flatter and to much longer distances) If it’s still boxed up then you may be able to send it back; however, I wouldn’t lose any sleep over keeping it and using it. I’ve never bothered using hash marks or anything but the crosshairs on my scopes. (I don’t take longer than 300 yard shots and kind of pride myself on knowing how much compensation to lift rather than using the hash marks.. plus I mostly shoot cans at distances like that.
