It was actually the Boring Twenties, people just couldn’t understand it, so they assumed they meant Roaring.

The economy was booming big time after WWI. People werer spending like crazy and just enjoying life. That’s part what led to the great depression people thought it would last forever and of course every bubble burst sooner or later. They call it the roaring 20s because it was a time for celebration and almost alright sexual revolution. People were letting go of the inhibitions and having loose morals. The flappers made this era famous. Flappers were women who would dance and strip and sleep with men. They were the original girls gone wild. Bootlegging began and that is where we got the name today. The government in is wisdom to stop the crazy partying banned alcohol production and consumption altogether. This of course didn’t go well so people starting making and distributing it for large sums of money since it was illegal. So they made the bootleggers like Al Capone rich.
