Why the Proliferation of Jolly Rogers?
I read in the October issue the letter from Doug Cole in Bellingham about the proliferation of Jolly Rogers. I may have at least a partial explanation. This summer I attended for the first time a cruiser’s rally sponsored by the ‘Latitudes and Attitudes’ magazine. They embrace the whole Jolly Roger notion in its entirety and indeed offered Jolly Rogers for sale briefly on Sat. morning of the rally. Nearly 90% of the boats at the rally (and there were over 100 boats, I would say) were flying the pirate ensign. That may explain some of it. Hey, I went home after the rally and picked one up in Westport a few weeks later!! Rocky Horror Time Warp Beneteau First 375 Seattle I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. The L&A folks have definately embraced the Jimmy Buffett, parrot on the shoulder romance of the Carribean. Now, exactly why did you pick one up later? Westporters beware!
