What is AOTAs view on state regulatory boards requiring demonstration of continuing competence?
For nearly 30 years AOTA has fostered state regulation of the profession as the principal means of protecting the public through a framework of legal standards that practitioners must meet in order to practice and maintain continuing competence. AOTA continues to strongly support the enforcement role of state boards in assuring the ongoing qualifications of practitioners and recognizing multiple options for practitioners to demonstrate their continuing competence. Whether one of these options is NBCOT’s program is a state decision.
