Mutation is the idea that when DNA copies, every once in a while there is a copying error and most of the time it’s bad. But according to Darwinian theory sometimes it’s good. Most of the time it’s bad so those die off, some of the time it’s good so the antelope evolves into a giraffe. That’s what’s being claimed, so that you have big long string of DNA with a billion or two billion or three billion letters, and if you have enough of these getting copied and enough copying errors eventually improvements find their way into a species.
