Who starts the process?
The DfT through the Community Rail Development Steering Group has identified a preferred order for future designations. That order may change if there is a particular requirement to bring a line forward for designation. It should be remembered that it is generally a requirement for designation that there is a community rail partnership or railway development company in existence before designation will be considered.
