What percentage of practicing engineers in Ontario are female?
According to PEO statistics from 1998, 3030 of the 61 340 professional engineers in Ontario were female, approximately 5%. While this number seems low, remember that a much higher percentage of women are enrolled in engineering programs across the country – the same year as this survey data was collected, the average female enrolment was 18% in Canadian engineering programs. With the current trends, each passing year brings a higher percentage of women into the engineering field.
