Let’s see. I have seen oil come from…. 1) An improperly tightened oil filter – poor kid seized his engine 2) Worn Piston rings – Technically it’s burning oil, but the net effect is the same; you’re losing oil 3) Loose drain plug – I’ve seen it too many times. 4) Worn oilpan gasket – it happens 5) Front and rear seals – doesn’t happen often but hard to fix when it does 6) Loose/missing oil filler cap – Once the engine is running, oil WILL come out whether it’s in droplets or pressurized mist.
