Over the counter remedies will not fix anything. Treatment must be done by a professional and if perio related, an antibiotic called Arestin can be placed directly into the affected area. Oral meds would have to be taken in massive doses over an extended period of time to get close to the same results. That would result in playing havoc with the rest of your body and is not recommended anymore. For an endo related abcess, either a root canal or extraction will be your only solution. No matter what, go see a dentist immediately. Left untreated, the infection can and will spread through out your body.
