Why solar over other renewables?
Unlike traditional methods of energy generation, renewables offer an eco-friendly and abundant solution. There are currently five segments of renewable energy: solar power, wind, biomass, geothermal and hydro-electric. Solar comes in two types, CSP aka concentrated solar power and P.V. aka photovoltaics. Between PV versus CSP, PV is prefered having no moving parts, no water use and much longer system life. CSP, although solar, requires water, pumps, input energy, and excessive operational and maintenance cost for a large steam turbine generator power box.
