How can I fix my Hotpoint Ultima WD865?

Whilst using the dryer on the WD865, there was an F-13 fault displayed. I switched the machine off and back on and the message had gone. However, when I tried to continue the drying cycle, there was no heat. I’ sure that it is something to do with the thermostat, but is there any way that it could either be caused by something else, or fixed myself to save the cost of an expensive service engineer!
