Why are the shapes of solar cars different from gasoline-powered cars?

I personally don’t think there’s much of a difference with a lot of the cars much, it’s just design and how people are trying to make the cars look more futuristic? I mean, when you lock yourself into the financing of the car, you’re probably more concerned with the sustainability, function and performance of the vehicle. If you really don’t like the design, there are plenty of other hybrid models available.

I’m guessing it is to make them more aerodynamic so you can save some of the solar energy.
