Who made the medieval catapult?
During medieval times the sieging lord would have to plan ahead. He would decide what weapons he wanted and recruit the necessary skilled people to build the weapons at the siege site. Blacksmiths and carpenters were needed, some specialized components or maybe the entire weapon would have to be brought to the battle. Since roads were often poor dirt tracks transportation was difficult and risky.
