Imagination or Reality?
I wince at the comment that the “pure Cell church is, in most cases, an imagination of the ideal.” Am I imagining an ideal when Lawrence Khong reports to our pastoral staff that the weekly income of Faith Community Baptist Church equals the estimated 10% tithe of our 4,500 members? This is no “imagined future.” We just paid off a US$7,500,000 brand new building with cash, while at the same time we exceeded our US$4,500,000 budget. It is not “imagined” that we have 120 staff and pastors, and are adding 60 more this year as we move toward a projected goal of 10,000 members by the end of 1994. Nor is it “imagination” to know the Mana church in Portugal exploded from 500 to close to 150,000 in ten years as the pastor began to focus on Cell groups. Do not tell Dion Robert, with 30,000 in 17 years, that it is an “imagined future.” Around this globe, Cell churches will smile when they read that they are only an “imagination of the ideal.” Sometimes I feel like the lad who gets in the mad prof
