What is the equilibrium constant?
This appears to be a bit of a trick question. The two reactions are actually the forward and the reverse of the same reaction. To see this, multiply the coefficients in the top equation by 2 to get, from left to right, 2,1 (usually not shown), 2, 2. This means that in the equilibrium expression, the numerator and denominator are swapped for the two cases. This is also true for the the Keq. It is 3.06/1 in the first equation and 1/3.06 for the second. If you divide 3.06 into 1, you will find that for the reverse reaction, Keq = 0.
