Can I feed my cat mucinex?
I agree with thornezoo who said not to give your cat mucinex. How would you know how much to give the cat? I would advise taking your cat to the vet and inquire about giving him/her nebulizer treatments. The nebulizer opens up the bronchial tubes and allows the cat to breathe in the medication. Sneezing is actually a good thing for the cat to be doing otherwise he/she wouldn’t be able to get any of the mucous out. Sometimes they just need a little more help than the good care we’re giving to them already. Good luck!
No, you can’t offer Mucinex to your cat. It’s toxic to her and will kill her. What probiotic are you giving her? My feline herpes cat is on Viralys and it seems to do a great job of boosting his immune system and keeping flare-ups pretty well in check. If your cat has a chronic viral condition, I recommend speaking with your vet about giving her this. You can also speak with your vet about using nasal drops occasionally. I once had a cat with chronic rhinitis and the drops my vet recommended really seemed to help her. Again, you’ll need to find out from your vet if s/he thinks this will be beneficial, and to make sure of the type of drops you should use. I don’t want to recommend a specific brand/type, as it may not be what your cat needs and your vet would need to tell you how often (and in what dosage) they can be safely used for her. You could also add one or two humidifiers to your home. Just as with us, extra humidity can sometimes help to loosen them up.
