What made mahatma gandhi a great leader?
he was not a great leader. Simply because he did not organise anything- that was done by his aides. All Gandhi did was to provide example by his own actions- and use the British legal system to protect himself against consequences. The same actions in a dictatorial country (germany, Japan, Russia) would have meant his death and the death of all his supporters Which is kind of funny- as Gandhi supported Japan and Nazi Germany during the WW2 Again- he was not a leader. Just a man obsessed with the dream of destroying the British Empire- because he was insulted in SOuth Africa by a train conductor. And all his actions went in that direction. As a consequence you have the independence of India- but also the 5 milion dead during the Partition, the colonisation of independent Indian States, three wars with Pakistan and a war with china- and now a nuclear standoff. Seems like a big price to pay for one man’s pride. But then, I’m not Indian or Brit- so what do I know…
