How much does a machinist make?
It really does depend on if you do CNC(computerized) work or manual machining. I am just starting out in the field, and where I am from which is the Pittsburgh area, I can usually expect to start out at about 12.00 an hour. Cost of living in N.Y. and Pittsburgh varies greatly, so $18 an hour in N.Y. is like $14 an hour in Pittsburgh. But I plan on making this a career, so in a couple to few years once I get my journeyman’s papers, working in CNC, I can expect to make anywhere from $18 to $24 dollars an hour.
