The original Six Flags is the one in Dallas, Texas, and it is named for the six flags that have flown over Texas. The park in Dallas has areas themed according to each of the eras/cultures of the different flags: France Spain Mexico Confederacy (Old South) Texas (Texas was its own country before it was accepted as a state) USA Later on, the 6 Flags Corporation expanded and/or bought out other theme parks around the country & made them “6 Flags franchises”.
