How does the MLS work?
MLS season starts March 19th LIVE on ESPN2 @ 9 pm ET (Seattle Sounders FC v New York RedBulls). You can check the schedule at MLSnet.com Season ends October 25th. Top 3 teams in each conference (East & West) with the highest amount of points make playoffs. The next 2 teams with the highest points, regardless of conference, make the playoffs as well (8 teams total). The first round of playoffs are two leg games with the semifinals and finals played as single games. During the season, each team plays every team in the league twice and every team in their conference three times. The MLS is a good league. You don’t see the same 4 elite teams every season with everyone else trailing behind. The team with the least amount of points every season is almost as good as the team who places first, making it one of the most competitive leagues in the world.
