What is Eastern Red Cedar or Aromatic Red Cedar?
They are one and the same and have the species name, Juniperus Virgiania. This cedar should not be confused with western red cedar which is a completely different species. Aromatic red cedar heartwood is a beautiful pink which ages to reddish brown. The creamy white sapwood turns tan as time goes by. To get a first hand look at some eastern red cedar wood, visit a Wal-mart and head to the pet section.
