What is a “Marconi Rig”?

A Marconi rig is what we now think of as a traditional “fore and aft” rig consisting primarily of two triangular sails, the mainsail and jib, or headsail. This is also known (now) as a sloop rig. (It’s confusing to read old-time nautical texts of the square-rigger days, when a sloop was a type of smaller square-rigged ship.) Wikipedia has a more in-depth article that I’m not going to completely paraphrase here. http://tinyurl.
