Who decides whether equipment is PPE and under which category they fall?
When the Directive or the categorisation guide do not provide a clear-cut answer, or opinions diverge, the question is raised at the PPE working group. A representative of the European Commission chairs this consultative group. All involved parties are represented, i.e. the authorities of the Member States of the European Union and the European Economic Area, the Notified Bodies, the standardisation bodies, manufacturers, workers and consumers.
