Whats it like to work at the Bronx Zoo?
“Refreshing. I visit the sea lions every day, and the flamingos are right outside my window. Taking a walk through the park is a great stress-reliever. One of my best friends here is a Goliath heron; it’s 6 feet tall, and I’m tall, too. When his wings are outstretched, he’s magnificent. We recently had a tour of the Congo Gorilla Forest, and there are two babies nursing with their moms, and that’s incredible to see.” Main systems: “Finance, fund-raising and membership, and admissions and ticketing are the ones that keep the place running. And we have a point-of-sale system in the cafe and our store. The other [systems] are for specialized niches.” What are some of the specialized systems? “We’re working on incorporating more technology into our exhibits, like interactive kiosks and interactive theater.
