What is sedimentation?

This is a process in which solid particles move into a liquid by means of gravity force, separating themselves from the liquid through depositing. In some cases (biological fluids) the time for spontaneous sedimentation would be too long and some particles take years for a sedimentation process. Its in these cases centrifugation takes place.
