What is Fasting and Prayer?
Prayer is a devout two-way spiritual communication with God. Fasting is not only the abstinence from food, water; it includes abstinence from entrance of any canal object or things into our body through all ports of entrance for the purpose of humbling ourselves before the Lord. Fasting also entails refraining from using our body and parts thereof in a manner that does not glorify God. Why do we need to Fast and Pray? Why do we need to fast and pray in the first instance if Christ is all powerful, all able, and can do all things? Let us take a cue from the encounter of Jesus and his disciples as recorded in Mark 9 v 29, see Mathew 17 v 21: Jesus said unto his disciple, this kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
