What is CVSD?
A. Continuously Variable Slope Delta (CVSD) is a voice digitization technique that has been in existence since 1970. CVSD quantizes differences between data samples and varies the quantization step size depending on how rapidly the analog input signal is changing. A distinguishing characteristic of CVSD is its robustness in the presence of bit errors. More information on the CVSD algorithm can be found in the CVSD Tutorial application note.
