PEI is a classification used to determine abrasion and scratch resistance for the tile surface. Tiles are graded from 0 to 5 with 0 being suitable for walls only and 5 for heavy commercial traffic. Small’s Tile recommends using either a PEI 4 or higher for floor tile installation. Most tiles are suitable for installation on walls.
